Project : St John’s Primary School, Edinburgh

Working in partnership with Albann, SSE and Graham Construction, WM BROWN recently helped deliver a combined smoke and natural ventilation system within the new £10M Primary School near Portobello in Edinburgh.

A combination of windows, louvres and roof vents help to bring fresh air in to classrooms and common spaces, whilst fully battery backed controllers creates a building wide smoke ventilation network.

Staff can either leave control to the centralised Building Management System, providing automatic operation in 10% increments depending on weather, temperature and cO2 levels, or adjust vents locally via manual switches.

A bespoke front end repeater panel provides additional fire service control and indication during any fire event.
